Where are you with AI?

Be honest. Pick the line that sounds like you and we will show you the route from there to a working system, with the price on the map. There is no sales layer and no vendor commission, and the answer can be “don’t”.

The route

Four waypoints between an idea and a working system

Pick where you are, above, and the route composes itself. Until then, here is the whole map: what happens at each waypoint, what it costs, and what you leave with.

  1. 01

    Find the value

Where AI would actually move revenue, margin, time or risk in your business: a short, priced piece of work that ends in a written answer, including “not yet” if that is the truth.

Practical AI Review £1,250 fixed · 5 daysDiscovery from £5,000
  2. 02

Decide with someone on your side

A proposal, an architecture, a vendor, a build-or-buy, a company you are about to back. We test it and tell you the truth in writing. Nobody pays us a commission, so “don’t” is always available.

Independent Review from £5,000Technology Due Diligence from £7,500
  3. 03

    Build the thing

Data platforms, AI products and integrations, designed, engineered and taken into production by the people who scoped them, tested with the people who will use them, with the running cost measured before you depend on it.

  4. 04

    Keep it working

Broken pipelines, slow Databricks jobs, Azure bills that keep climbing, models that behave differently in production. Root cause first, repair second, then senior leadership on retainer if you want us to stay.

Accelerators

Capability fast, without rebuilding from scratch

KnowledgeIQ and CommercialIQ are accelerators as well as proof: an architectural blueprint and a foundational codebase that we tailor to your use cases, so you reach a working capability in weeks rather than starting from a blank page. Here is one of them answering a question.

Our own product · In production

KnowledgeIQ answers from 78,500 publications and shows its sources

An economic research business needed customers to find its current house view across decades of publications. Ask a complex question in plain language, get a synthesised answer, and open every source to check it. In daily use.

  • Hybrid vector and BM25 retrieval, semantically reranked
  • Recency and supersession rules so old positions stay old
  • Separate synthesis and grounding-check stages
  • 78,500+ publications · 89,000 chart assets · 35,700 forecast points

Also found during ingestion: premium research meant to sit behind a login was publicly reachable through a content-delivery misconfiguration. We identified it, assessed the risk and reported it to leadership. That is what independence looks like in practice.

CommercialIQ puts AI inside an account team’s week

Portfolio health, renewal risk and structured diagnostics that produce action plans with an owner and a date. The commercial maths is deterministic, AI drafts and interprets, and a person accepts or rejects every action.

An enterprise platform rebuilt from the data up

A review found dashboards disconnected from live data and scoring pipelines that did not implement the authoritative method. Both applications were rebuilt on a Databricks lakehouse with verified pipelines, plus a full Azure tenant-to-tenant migration.

AI is easy to buy

Value is hard to achieve

Your people use it every day
Your business can’t tell

That gap is where we operate

Most of what a business spends on AI ends as a licence, a pilot or a slide deck. That gap is where TechGuidr operates: turning what you spend into a system that runs on a Monday morning, does a job, and pays for itself. We find where the value is, we build the thing, and we fix what someone else left broken. We do not sell software licences and we take no commissions, so we can tell you when the right answer is to do nothing.

The guide

You’ll work with me, not a team you’ve never met

I’m Dan. I’ve spent more than 25 years building data and AI systems, including as a global Data and AI leader at Microsoft, and I still write code. On a TechGuidr engagement I’m the person on the call and the person in the architecture, with specialist TechGuidr people behind me when a build needs them. There is no sales layer, no discovery-call script, and no handover to a junior team after you sign.

The work I enjoy most is the whole arc: finding the opportunity, designing and building the thing, getting it into production, and fixing hard systems that other people have walked away from. That is also the work this business is built to do.

Dan can cut through the noise, find the root cause, and clearly formulate solutions.

The rules

Six terms, written into every engagement

They are the conditions of every piece of work we take on, and the reason our advice is worth paying for.

  1. Scope, price and exclusions in writing before work startsFixed price wherever the work can honestly be defined. Larger builds are scoped, not guessed.
  2. No vendor commissions, referral fees or resale marginsWe do not resell software, and nobody pays us to recommend them.
  3. If our own products are an option, we say soKnowledgeIQ and CommercialIQ are ours. We disclose the interest and compare the alternatives.
  4. A review never obliges you to buy deliveryTake the findings to your own team or another provider. The answer can be “don’t”.
  5. Our estimating errors inside a fixed scope are our costChanges to scope, price or timing are agreed before more work starts.
  6. You keep the knowledge, the code and the controlSource access, documentation and handover are part of the agreement rather than an upsell.
